Lot # 253 - Tag 134 - Jocilyn DeSmet
Comments:
My name is Jocilyn DeSmet. I am 13 years old and a student at L.A.V.A. I belong to Antelope 4-H and have been for seven years. This is my fourth year raising a steer. This is my first year raising a Charolais. I am excited to raise a Charolais. I looked a great deal for a good steer and decided on buying one from Shasta College. I purchased my steer when he was 500lbs, and he's currently 1205 lbs. Not only did I raise a new breed. I did many new things this year. The most significant difference was that I ordered four pallets of Sunglo and split it with my two sisters. Ordering a large amount of feed gave me a chance to feed high-quality show feed for an affordable price. I have been feeding him since September, and I believe that I produced the best beef product possible. Outside of 4-H, I enjoy all types of sports. I played basketball, volleyball, soccer, little league, and travel softball. I also am very into traveling. I was also able to travel to the Utila part of the Bay Islands this year. We were planning on scuba diving, and I was going to get my Advanced Open Water Diver. Unfortunately, shortly after we arrived, social distancing and the Corona Virus precautions were enforced. My family and I love also love to go to Lake Shasta and wakeboard and wake surf.
