My name is Lilli DeSmet and, I am a member of Red Bluff FFA. This is my second year in FFA, and my 8th year taking an animal to fair. I have raised a steer for the fair for the past four years. For the past three years, I have taken a steer that came from my family's ranch. This year was the first year that I decided to purchase one. I decided to purchase a steer this year because I wanted to be more competitive in confirmation. My ranch steers always did well but didnt have the genetics to show at the level I wanted to compete. I have enjoyed raising this steer, and he has definitely finished to my expectations! Last year I bought a show heifer and did well, this year I artificially inseminated her. I am working on creating a small herd of my own show cattle. I have learned a lot this year. I am disappointed that I wont be able to show him at a live sale where everyone can see how great he looks. But, most importantly, I feel that I have created a product that will be amazing on the dinner table. Outside of my beef project and FFA, I enjoy traveling and playing sports. This year I was on the softball team at Red Bluff High School. I was also able to travel to the Bay Islands.
