My name is Van Ewing and this is my first year raising a market animal. I have been in Lake 4-H for four years. I am nine years old and in fourth grade. I enjoyed raising Harriett, my crossbred gilt. She is a very sweet pig. She likes me to pet her under her chin. She gets excited every time she sees me. I have learned a lot about hard work and responsibility with my swine project. I have worked really hard taking care of her by feeding, walking, bathing and spending time with her. I was the Recreation Leader this year in 4H. I was also in several projects; swine, cooking, woodworking, record book keeping, arts & crafts, & community service. Every weekend was full of 4H meetings. I enjoy being a part of my community and helping others.
